damn...that's pretty interesting and ballsy. I never knew Avis, Wyndham, and a few other known brands were owned by Cendant. I thought they were a tech company

Cendant went on a buying spree in the 2000-2003 period, gobbling up a ton of companies. They have already spun off the mortgage company along with PHH Arval a fleet management company (odd combination to sell off together).
We always thought they would streamline the company, not break it up. This has caught a lot of people, even higher levels of CD management, by surprise.
Talked to my boss, his way of looking at it is that we are now bigger fish part of a much smaller pond. So, at least my job is stable right now.
Always have a backup plan bro...
