Dateline is doing another story on adults meeting up with people who they think are teenage boys for sex. One of them is a Rabbi and another is a teacher. It takes place in my lil DC Metro area so it makes me think what other creeps live around me.
I hope they get charged too, the pervs...what if it really had been a child they were meeting these people make me sick. I hope they wind up in jail with big bubba's who show them what abuse feels like

There, they were confronted by "Dateline" reporter Chris Hansen.

Well I watched that Dateline episode last night and I find it really disturbing that not only do people like this exist but the only remorse they seem to have was in getting caught on camera. One freak was even at it again the next day and AGAIN agreed to meet up with a child and was set up AGAIN! A few of them said they were in counselling because of their "sickness"...well it isnt working so I really hope they all get criminal charges so they can be kept track of better...sickos.

How old are these kids that they think they are going to meet?
It sounds like the alleged teens consented (in the moral not legal sense). Just make sure your kids know that they shouldn't have sex with people much older than them and I think you'll be finethis makes me NOT want to have children after mcs and I get married....

Kids who are raised well, with a good foundation, normally don't run into these problems. There is no replacement for the elixir known as strong parenting.

Because it was part of the dateline exclusive. If you watched the program, you found out that dateline was working with a "vigilante" group called Perverted Justice. The police do not really condone their work because they are civillians.
That would explain why the cops weren't there...because it wasn't a "cop endorsed" sting. You do find out though, that Perverted Justice and Dateline turned in all their evidence to the police. They said from beginning to when the show aired, Perverted Justice has "assisted" in 30 convictions.

It is a crime to illicit any kind of sexual behavior from minors on the internet or to send them pornographic material. Some of these guys were sending very inappropriate pics of themselves thinking they were sending them to children. The crime is that they really thought these were children they were sending it to so they cannot defend themselves by saying that it was adults who received it. So they really didnt need to set up a meeting because if they can trace these people through the computer they already have commited the crime...the meetings were for the ratings and to prove these guys really are that stupid. As for the police, if you go to Perverted Justice website I read on there that some police force is thinking of conviscating their computers and charging the volunteers that are catching these freaks because they consider them vigilantes...but say because they are receiving pornographic material using photos of children as themselves that they are commiting some kind of crime. Atleast thats what I understood. You would think any police force would be grateful for the help since this group really just gets enough info for the police to act on...I really dont see the problem.

That makes sense - I've seen the work that those guys do, and I think it's a good cause. Maybe they're not going about it properly, but I think they're doing the right thing.

I saw it with the wife. She worked at a mens prison for sex offenders (rapest and child molesters) for a two years during her masters internship (Auburn). She came to the conclusion that there is no help for these guys. That the recidivism rate being 90% is only 90% because the other 10% hasn't been caught yet. And she really really wanted to help these guys. Enough to put herself in that damn prison every day for two years. She was working with some damn fine psychiatrists and sociologists as well. They dropped the entire program and gave up after ten years. Their thoughts: they agreed with my wife. Sad.
