Sex Parties Mom Gets 30 Years in Prison

GOLDEN, Colo. — A woman who authorities said had sex with high school boys during alcohol- and drug-fueled parties has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, officials said.

Silvia Johnson, 41, of Arvada, described herself to investigators as a "cool mom" who "was never popular with classmates in high school" and who was beginning to feel like one of the group.

She pleaded guilty in July to two misdemeanor counts of sexual assault and nine felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She also was sentenced for additional charges of third-degree assault, violation of a restraining order and harassment for unrelated cases involving her husband and children, prosecution spokesman Carl Blesch said.

Authorities said Johnson held parties for the boys almost weekly between October 2003 and October 2004. They said Johnson provided drugs and alcohol to eight boys and had sex with five of them.

Johnson was to be sentenced on Sept. 26, but the hearing was postponed after she was injured the day before while riding in an SUV that veered off an interstate.

I feel sorry for her - that she had such low self esteem to resort to all of that to fit in with children/teens. As an adult she should know better. I feel bad for her family - but I think they are better off without her - this must be such a burden on them and the shame they must feel. I feel more sorry for the parents of the children/teens she did this to - the children/teens might not be affected as much but the parents I am sure are.

When I first heard about the arrest and followed it on Smoking Gun, I thought she was an idiot. Now I feel sorry for her, she got 30 years in prison! Jeepers, there are folks that KILL people that get far less than that. What she did was wrong, no doubt. Seems like her bad judgement and low self esteem might get her a short term in prison and a whole bunch of mental help.

i don't feel sorry for her. for her family, yes, but not for her. she knew what she was doing was wrong ....when you know you're doing something wrong you know that you'll have to pay for it sooner or later. that's like raping 5 kids ....even if those boys were "ok" w/it .....if you go up to a boy and tell him that you want to sleep with 'em they won't say no ....SHE KNEW BETTER!

Hmm....30 years seems awfully long but she did rape 5 kids and provided them with alcohol and drugs. I would send a drug dealer that long if he/she provided drugs to 5 kids in a span of a year that was done in a hotel or on the street. She also had additional violations don't forget. Just because she hosted a party doesn't make the offense any less serious right?

Not sure, but I'm with you. 30 years seems harsh, but I'm thinking that if it was a 40 year old guy nailing a bunch of 15 or 16 year old girls, I'd be more inclined to say a lengthy jail sentence was appropriate. Although in either case, I'm thinking 30 years seems a bit extreme.

yes....thanks for the dissertation on sexism.


there might be other reasons as well. one might be that girls are more likely to be victims of sexual abuse than boys. another might be that when girls are raped it's usually non-consentual while the opposite might be true with boys.

or the fact that there are in fact physical differences that would would make the girl more likely to be a victim of rape.

let me ask you this...which is more likely? a 20yo woman forcing a 16yo male to have sex with him or a 20yo male forcing a female to have sex with her?

plus, those of with gf's and wives have likely thought about how pissed they would be if their S/O got raped. how many times do you think she has worried about you getting raped?

Oh I'll totally agree that it's WAY more likely that a girl will be raped than a man, but that still doesn't make the imbalance of reaction okay. As far as consentual/non-consentual, the definition of rape is non-consentual sex, statutory rape is considered non-consentual because the individual is too young to consent, so that point is moot.

Just because males being raped is less common, doesn't make it less bad.

i don't know i mean the boys were not against it, there is one thing if she forced herself on them, but i'm sure they wanted equally, so it really is not the same thing is raping them.. i just don't think that's a correct term

well on the 30 years put yourself in the parents shoes think of your little boy and see if that changes your out look on it. It does for me. At first I thought that is really excessive, and then I looked at it and thought what if it was my little boy Cammie, or what if it was my brother. Well I think she deserves what she got. I don't care if the boys wanted it or not she is an adult and should know better.

Same token, I could trick a young girl who knows nothing about sex into having sex with me and would that be rape? It's just the way our society sees it... if you trick a person under 18 years old into having sex with you, it's called rape. if you trick a person over 18 years old into having sex with you, it's called a relationship.
