I totally swore up and down that he had passed away a couple of years ago...

There was a rumor of his passing a few years ago. He actually made a press release about the fact that if he was dead, someone forgot to tell him.
I dont think it was Parkinsons, but rather MS. You'll have to check the obituaries, I am sure they will have it.
All I can say is that he was freaking hilarious. Even in his "bad" movies he was funny. Who can forget things like: Brewster's Millions, The Toy, Hear no Evil, See no Evil, Superman 2, Stir Crazy, and tons more. He was a very funny man.
The scene with the dying whirl-o-wheel is classic...as are the pirranahas.

such a talented comedian who was shut down before his time due to the ravages of multiple sclerosis.
he was one of those guys that could make you laugh just by his facial expressions. some people just have that natural talent and gift.

Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor (December 1, 1940 – December 10, 2005) was an American comedian and actor.
Born in 1940 in Peoria, Illinois, Pryor grew up in his grandmother's brothel. His first professional performance came at age 7, when he played drums at a night club.
A gifted storyteller known for unflinching examinations of race and custom in modern life, Pryor shattered many barriers for American stand-up comedians such as Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Arsenio Hall, David Letterman, and others. Though he frequently used colorful language, vulgarities, he reached a broad audience with his trenchant observations. Pryor was often ranked among the best stand-up comedians, although rarely got his due among American audiences because he was too controversial.
Pryor was at his best when he took the tragic events that happened during his life and made them a part of his onstage routine in concert movies and recordings such as "Richard Pryor: Live & Smokin'" (1971), "That ******'s Crazy" (1974), "Bicentennial ******" (1976), "Richard Pryor: Wanted – Live In Concert" (1979) and "Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip" (1982).
