    rendering on an external drive

i have a friend that has a 2-3 year old powerbook. she wants to render some stuff on an external drive. i told her to get a drive with firewire, but it's still going to be a bit slow, right? what option does she have if she doesn't own a desktop?

    thanks!

She could upgrade her internal hard drive. I have installed hard drives on pretty much every powerbook, and although tricky it is doable. Here is the site I visit:

If she doesn't want to do that, then firewire is the only choice. If she has FW2, make sure she gets a FW2 drive.
