I think Randall made a huge mistake in not allowing the other woman to be co-apprentice. He won, he was picked first, allowing her a good opportunity would have cost him nothing. He could have made himself not just an apprentice, but a graceful winner and a superior person. I was extremely disappointed.
No class at all, very disappointing. It's a little little man that has the attitude "it's not enough that I succeed, but everyone else must fail."

Trump hired Randal. Then he asked Randal if he should hire Rebecca and Randal said there can only be one apprentice. Donald said he could live with that answer.

I think he was just afraid if Donald hired her too he would realize she was the better choice all along. I think the guy is a real a$$ to do that to someone but atleast the whole world saw it and knows what he is really like now. But if you listen Donald did say "Ok we'll leave it at that....for now". So maybe he didnt want to cause any kind of scene but is going to hire her anyways. I mean really he is supposed to be a huge business tycoon...would you let a guy who has been working for you for 30 seconds tell you who to hire?

Instead, he turns out to be a egotistical jerk bent on making sure nobody else does as well as him. It reminds me of a person trying to be saved by a lifeguard while they are drowning. Instead of accepting a bouy so they both could live, Randal just held onto Rebecca, drowned her, and survived.
Some could say "Thats business". However, most people who do that end up broken in the end. It is a sad state of affairs when you are respected for being utterly ruthless. Me? I prefer to work with those I respect, not rip them to shreds.
If I remember correctly, wasn't she clapping for him even after he did that? She really seemed classy.

she'll get offers regardless.

YOu guys are all wrong here. Randal is right. Did you even listen to what he said? He said and I hoep I am quoting right I may miss a word.
"Mr. Trump I firmly believe that this is the Apprentice. Not the Apprentices. If you are going to hire someone tonight it should be only one. It's not the Apprenti."
First this is a competition and there can ONLY BE ONE winner. I don't care how fair or unfair it is. Yes Rebecca was a star. But Trump made his pick. You can dog Randal all you want. Wish he gets killed and what not. But he was only stating what the rules of the game part of the show are. Just like Trump won't fire Mike from last season even though he sat on his ass the task after he won as PM. Rules are rules as Trump said then and rules are rules as Randal reminded him on the Finale.
However if you notice Randal said TONIGHT. He did not say never hire Rebbeca. He said for tonight, if you are going to hire someone, make it one. Sure he did not say you could hire her tommorrow or in the future. But can you not blaim him for being a little bit stoked?
You are all being quick to judge.... mow many of you followed the whole season? I have. Randal did the right thing but did not phrase his words kindly enough. It is a game, only ONE winner. You can't have two times win the Super Bowl.
So cut this guy some slack.
HE is not an ass, he is playing the game part. Did you watch the show at all? Did you? Randal gained the respect of ALL the other candidates. He is anything but an ass. He was simply stating the rules. Again it would be like after the Patriots beat the Eagles asking Tom Brady if he thought because the Eagles put up a good fight if they too should be Super Bowl Champions.Originally Posted by riskykougra
It was a competition. and as i pointed out, Randal said tonight. For that night, only one person. And again he didn't say hire her tommorrow Mr. Trump. But man I would have said the same thing. It was unfair of Trump if you think to put him on the spot like that. Now people will judge him unfairly who don't follow the show.
Notice that even Trump kinda wanted to hire both of them (and I thought he was going to) but he still picked ONE winner. Trump could have said.... you are both stars. Rebecca, Randals, YOUR BOTH HIRED!. But there is only ONE Apprentice per season.
I've just scanned a lot of the news on this Finale and the Media is not quoting Randal right. So really unless you followed the whole season, watched the Finale and truly listend to what Randal said, cut him some slack.

Here's the link to Yahoo's apprentice site. You can watch the Uncut finale seconds and hear for yourself what Randal says......
http://apprentice.tv.yahoo.com/trump/04/index.html
Bren from season 3 had this to say about this situation
"I totally agree with Randal. The show is called 'The Apprentice', not 'The Apprentices' or as Randal put it: "it's not 'The Apprenti'!"
Sure, Randal screwed Rebecca out of a chance to have a job. But if Trump hired both...what's the point? There can only be ONE apprentice."
he continues
I do think that Randal could have done a better job at stating his reasons as to why Rebecca shouldn't have been hired. But hey, who am I to judge? If I was in Randal's shoes, I would have been a smart-a** and said:
"Sure Donald, hire Rebecca...I need an assistant. Rebecca, go get me a coffee!"
Bren has been following the show for Yahoo this season just like Raj did last season
This is what David Bloomberg wrote on his Apprentice Blog
http://www.realitynewsonline.com/cgi...937.art&page=1I’d like to say a few words on Randal’s actions after he won, when he denied Rebecca a chance to be hired as well. I can’t read his mind so I don’t totally know his motives. However, I do think he could have handled it in a better fashion. I would understand if his point was that there should only be one winner. Fine. But why deny Rebecca an opportunity to be hired? While it’s easy to Monday-morning (or in this case, Friday-morning) quarterback, I do think Randal should have replied differently. He could have said, "Mr. Trump, I think Rebecca would be a great person to hire outside of this Apprentice process." He should has said this, Tofu Or, "I don't think she has enough experience to do the job you suggested, but she should be hired in some capacity. In fact, I'd love for her to work for me." Etc.
Randal went through the entire show as one of the most-liked contestants. He won based partly on this fact. But if my e-mail is any indication, he lost pretty much all of that goodwill in just that one moment.
I think most people agree (me included) is that Randal didnt word it right. Two things NOT considered here... would Rebecca have said Hire Randal too? And if you were Rebecca and Randal offered to hire you to work for him....would you have been insulted... I would have.
I am trying to find a response from her to see how she reacted.

I followed the show pretty closely & heard his exact words, and I still lost 99% of the respect I had for him the moment he said his piece.
Rules schmules - I was actually anticipating Trump to announce that they were both hired. When Trump asked Randall if he would hire Rebecca if he were Trump, I fully expected that Randall would say, "In a second," or something along those lines. When he said no, I lost a ton of respect for him, and I bet Trump did, too. Reasons:
- You want your business to succeed. In order to do that, you hire the best people you can. If someone of Rebecca's quality was available, you snag her up as fast as you can. Randall appeared selfish in that he wasn't willing to share the spotlight, even though it's the right thing to do for his new employer.
- You need to be seen as a team player, even if you're in charge of the team. By saying 'no', he pretty much let everyone know that he's threatened by Rebecca. He was already announced as the winner; his position won't change whether she's an employee or not. But now we all know (or at least suspect) that he's afraid of her being there, too.
It was a bad business decision on Randall's part. I bet Trump hires her anyway.
Again if Trump really wanted to hire both, he would have done it I think. Why he asked Randal is beyond me. Maybe he had his doubts. I still respect Randal. Maybe I am th eonly person alive who does. He's human he makes a mistakes.

I thought that was kind of the whole reason Trump gave that "it's not a game to me, it's real business" speach right before he decided.Originally Posted by Jeffbx
Tofu, I think you are attributing too much to "tonight", I don't think he meant it as a "if you just want to hire 1 person tonight it should be me, tomorrow is OK".
The "game" is for ultimately 1 candidate to shine and then get a position. If you are in an interview and there is one spot (like this) then yes, you should only hire one person.
However, Trump was completely open to hiring two, there were two jobs and two people who were more than able to do those jobs. There was nothing lost to Randal sharing the spotlight, it wasn't a 0-sum game, he would have his job and she would have hers. He wasn't giving up *anything* and he would have gained a ton of respect.
I have seen people like that. Those who will sell out their co-workers to get a short-term gain. My boss' old boss was like that, he used my boss and when my boss got a better job, he treated my very nice boss like crap. He eventually had the lowest manager scores in the company and was recently let go.
Another guy in my company is the same type of person as Randal. A fast-talking "intellectual" who has done nothing more than trample others on his way to the top. Three senior analysts have quit because of his lording over them "I graduated from University of Chicago, you graduated from a lower school, I am better than you". Or "I am your boss, bow to me".
People cannot stand him and I could see him doing exactly what Randal did. Eventually people lose respect for you and you end up crapping on each other to jockey for position. You end up in a sea of morons who play the politics the whole time.
Just like the guy who was on Martha's apprentice, one of the last 3. "Its all a game, its all politics, screw everybody else". Sure, it is a game, there are a lot of politics, but you don't screw everybody else.
You need to pick your friends and enemies, weigh your gains and losses, and make educated and logical decisions.
Randal was an self-centered idiot.
again I disagree with all of you. I believe in Randal and think he did the right thing. He will do good and he did earn the respect of the other candidates. He's a good person from what I saw.
You can bash him all you want, that's cool. I feel that he did word his reasons right. Maybe there are other reasons why people hate him. I have no idea. He was the LONE winner in a game with ONE winner.
I stand by my line of thinking that if Trump REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to hire both of them, he would have just done it. Instead he did what was right and hired one. Then Randal backed him up.
But there are rules to be followed too. In Season 3 he should have been able to Fire Michael for sitting on his ass while he was not able to be fired due to winning as a PM. Instead he was forced to fire Danny. So yes he does want it to be Business. But he still has to follow the rules of his own show.Originally Posted by Cubsfan
But I too thought he was going to hire both. Why not, if you can fire four in one week, hiring two would be ok too right?

The whole firing multiple people at a time really irritated me, only because I think it was planned from the start. I'm guessing that NBC has to have a certain number of shows, and that they agree on that at the start. So they must have planned to fire 4 'extra' people during the run of the show.
Other shows seem to have to make up for things like this. For instance, on Top Model (girlfriend makes me watch it), one girl quit, so on a later show they didn't send anyone home. There weren't any apprentice episodes like that.
I was a little disappointed that Randal didn't allow her to be hired, but oh well. My girlfriend was pissed because even though she thought he was barely the better applicant, she thought it was ****ty thing to do. I don't know why he didn't allow her to be hired, but he won, and so therefore I don't think he was required to share the limlight at all.

Wow first off maybe try a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth. I watched the entire season where Randal spent most of the last couple of days telling Rebecca he was glad it was them at the end because he had the utmost respect for her and her skills...blah blah blah. And if you had read what I wrote, (Did you? Did you?) you would also see that Donald said he wouldnt hire her right then...Now I dont know what Rebecca would have done but I know I would of said yes hire Randal too since they both wanted different jobs. But that is my opinion, you dont have to like it I wont lose any sleep tonight.
Just reread the thread and its funny how Im the one you choose to attack for calling him an a$$ when that wasnt even the worse thing written...interesting...but not that interesting![]()

attack? Interesting choice or word..... I quoted you because you pretty much summed up what the others were saying in a well put together paragraph. but if that's an attack..... oh well.

I'm willing to bet that the same folks who said Kwame didn't deserve it back then are saying that Randall should have given her the "co-title" now.
Pretty much Trump should've made that decision rather than leave it in the hands of the contestant... if he felt so strongly that he wanted her on his staff (and like Tofu said, it's not like Trump still couldn't hire the girl... she just wouldn't share the title of "Apprentice" on this go round...)

Well then maybe it was the just the tone of your writing. When some asks something like "did you even watch it, did you", it almost sounds like you are assuming that because I dont happen to agree with you that I must be stupid or something not to understand the show...but atleast I didnt say anything to wish him harm I merely stated what I thought of him. But then if what I said pretty much summed everyone else up well then ok...but I was only expressing my own opinion on how he made me feel at the time not agreeing just to agree. I found the ending a real letdown knowing he could of done something for someone that no one else could have done or will probably get the opportunity to do again. And maybe attack wasnt the proper word but it was late and I couldnt think of anything else ...Originally Posted by TofuNinja

I don't get this argument. Ratings were way down this year, so it's basically a way to try to bring them back up by being "unpredictable". He didn't fire four people on any other previous show either, why start with this one? It gets pretty stale when there are no real suprises.Originally Posted by DarkFury
It's all good. the "Did you even watch it, did you" was directed not at you but at everyone who was ripping him. Both you and LK said you watched it and I respect your takes on the finale. I too was like whoa, he's gonna share... WTF! oh well he was the winner and yes, only one. It would have been a nice fairytail ending if both would have won. Did you see how pissed Adam looked? He was all clapping and nodding when Trump asked him, then he looked like he was punched in the gut. It was a surprising moment to say the least.Originally Posted by riskykougra
