Got both my kids ipods. It comes with no manual, you have to go online for it. Right away they had to go to Itunes and buy music. Upon installing it on a laptop, it crashed the laptop. I knew I would regret this purchase.

I'm surprised.Originally Posted by pd123
My iPod Mini came with a manual.
I installed iTunes on my desktop and laptop and had no problems.
By the way, if you are interested there are dozens of books out on the iPod and iTunes, many are available at your local library.
Which Ipod do you have? I purchased 2 Ipod video, 30 gig. It came with a quick start type guide (a pamphlet), the maual that is roughly 50 or 60 pages is online.Originally Posted by Itsme
I have the iPod Mini. I guess you got stuck with the new way of doing things...as you decribed....having the manual online. Soory for your problems.Originally Posted by pd123
Did it also come with a CD for loading software? If it did, there might be a manual on the CD you can either look at, or print locally.
Yes, it had a cd, I didn't think to look on the cd. The stupid thing locked up on us, we tried a reset, nothing happened. After a half hour I gave up. A half hour later it began running fine. Very frustrating. I hear Apple tech support is not great.Originally Posted by Itsme
I picked up a nano for my mom a little while ago. It took her until I just got home now for X-Mas to try to use it because it had no instruction manual and she was confused about how to use it.
Now that I showed her, she really enjoys it . . . but apparently it's not quite as 'intuitive' as hoped.

Sounds like a software error not a hardware error.Originally Posted by pd123

I've used both. The 1st is OK, but you have to pay for it. I never paid so I never got all of the features. The 2nd works well, but on the 5G it lists all your songs in the videos category, at least thats what my case was.

I had very little problems setting up a couple iPods this weekend. The problems I did have were caused by a slow wireless connection. Not the iPod software.
