Butterflies will differ dramatically in coloration, size and species, including black and yellow zebras, orange flames, long wings, monarchs, and many more. Also several species of insects and reptiles that would naturally inhabit a South American jungle, including unique and intriguing stick and leaf insects will be showcased throughout the two weeks. Hundreds of exotic orchids will welcome spring with their pink, white, purple and yellow blooms. Culture and care demonstrations daily.

San Diego Zoo: Spring Break 2006 (April 8 - 23) To celebrate Spring Break, the Zoo extends their hours, the Zoo characters, Sydney and Friends, are out and about for meet and greets and photo opportunities, animal encounters take place throughout the day, and Dr. Zoolittle, our wacky resident scientist, conducts several shows per day which allow children of all ages an up-close interaction with animals and other unique creatures. Kids will also want to stop by the Children’s Zoo and check out- Bugtown! Bugtown explores the wonder of insects and other invertebrates, exhibiting each species in a miniature version of its natural habitat. Check out giant water bugs, diving beetles, scorpions, tarantulas, katydids, and praying mantises. With over 4,000 animals at the Zoo and lots of fun things to see and do, kids will never want spring break to end!
