i want to eventually get a dell 2005FPW if it goes back on sale for ~$375.

or i really want to get an 30gig ipod video.

Those are two very different things! Depends on what you need to do. Personally, I'd get the ipod (which is what I did), but then again, I have more use for that then for a monitor

Do you have a price $ to play around with? (ie how much money can you spend)

I wouldn't get a 30g iPod...I'd get a 60g just because you can run out of space quickly. The monitor you might get more use out of but then again they might have a larger one for just a little more that an extra few hours at work could pay for...etc.

I guess I'd look at it as a "how long will this last/can I use a bigger one for only a little more money" thing.
