Force a bios flash with Award bios?

I'm trying to flash a bios over a special (feature-crippled) bios on the board that I know the bios will work on (because I pulled the bios from an identical board with a proper bios).

The flash program that ECS has is Award version 860, by Phoenix.

When I try to flash the bios, the update program says the files sizes don't match, even though the backup of the bad bios and the bios I want to flash are identical in size.

    SO...

Does anyone know how to force a flash, ignoring errors on a Award bios?

Is the flash update recommended by the manufacturer?

If not... then I get really nervous messin' with flashing the BIOS in fear that the mobo would be ruined.

Im trying to flash a ECS board with it's original bios. The bios I want to use is OEM, and in use on another, identical board.

Maybe they aren't "totally identical"... the fact that it didn't work the first time suggests that something is wrong.

I dunno man... sounds kinda risky to me. Well good luck trying.
