SS: my eye is a red, poofy, burning mess

I woke up this morn at 6am with my eyes burning. So I took off my contacts, and flushed my eyes... and it continued to get worse. According to the opthamalagist, I have some sort of infection in my right eye, hence the redness. The pain is because I have an abraison on my cornea - apparently, when I removed my contacts, the contact stuck to my eye and pulled off a bit of skin when I took it out!! So now I'm super-light sensitive (riding in the car to the doctor's made me practically blind cuz I was tearing up so much), my eye hurts like heck, and I tear up regularly every 15 minutes or so, forcing me to stop whatever I'm doing, press a wet cloth to my eyes, and just wait until the irritation subsides. Oh, and the drops the doctor gave me sting going in. wheeeeeee! this stinks.
    Have a groovy day!

    Owwwww... that doesn't sound good.

Itchy, burning eyes is one of the reasons I gave up on contacts long ago... maybe there will be Lasik help/hope for the future.

I've had my share of eye irritations in the past. They can really be a pain.

A few years ago I developed iritis (inflamation of the iris) in both eyes. I had to keep them dialated for over a week, and was putting steroidal drops in for several weeks - couldn't wear my contacts the whole time (I have abouy 6.5 diopter correction, and have horrible near vision with my glasses).

Ohhh nooooo...I hope the eye feels better soon Avlena. Drink lots of water! (not that it will help but frequent trips to the rest room might take your mind off the fact you have a bum eye.. )

update: these lovely drops the doctor gave me are actually helping a lot! I'm still light sensitive, but I don't tear up that much anymore, just blink a lot. The pain has subsided mostly. And the redness went down to a pink. YAY for eyedrops!

Now if I could only figure out how to "break" the light above my cube... hmmmmmm

Thanks for all the sympathetic posts!

Just wear your sunglasses inside. I am going to guess that you have clips for your glasses.

Either way, been there and it truly does suck. Hope you feel better soon.

Ask your boss to have facilities come and remove the bulb for a couple of days due to you haveing an eye injury and being very light sensative.
