    Battlestar Galactica

Is it just me or did they really step it up a few notches on the plot and performances? The last few episodes have been very intense, especially the last one. It was amazingly cool watching Galactica and Pegasus going toe-to-toe with those base stars.
    I think over again
    My small adventures, my fears.
The small ones that seemed so big,
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.

And yet there is only one great thing, the only thing:

To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.

Yeah.. the female Admiral Stark was a real BITCH.

They've truly departed from the original series now... as the male Admiral Stark went his own way with the Pegasus and the Galactica escaped with the rest of the fleet.

Mutiny, Assasinations, deception... all things that make for a good Colonial Officer (and good drama )

    You mean Admiral Cain?

Yeah I love this show. The only thing I hate is waiting a week between shows.

    Yeah.. Cain.

Where da hell did I get "Stark" from? Must've had another TV show on my mind.

Actually, I think he/she spelled it Caine.

Nope it's Cain without the 'e'. Helena Cain

Battlestar Galactica is awesome. They did not sit on their laurels, they continue to push forward in making it the best show that it can be.
Most Sci-Fi shows focus on the fiction aspect and all the cool gadgets. Battlestar Galactica just uses them as a back drop. It's an excellent drama. It moves along at a good clip and has many subplots, some occuring in a single episode, others over a fer episodes or a season and still others across seasons. Every mystery solved begs more questions.

This is how remakes are supposed to be, better than the original. Good solid acting talent with well written dialog and, if the results are an indication, great direction. I am so impressed with this show.
I recorded the last episode and found myself putting off watching it for three reasons.
    1) After I watched it I would have to wait for the next one.
    2) I didn't want to watch it when I might be distracted or interupted.
3)I wanted to be fully allert so that I didn't miss anything.

I think the best example of using tech as a backdrop is the last episode where they were to take down the Resurrection Ship. Rather than showing details of the battle, the maneuvers, etc., they showed other parts of it. The battle was in the background.

Btw scifi provides a commentary track on their website, similar (if not the same) to director's commentary found on the DVD. It's great to listen to and they help you sync it with the show.

Site is blocked from work... but that's cool.

But honestly, in the ORIGINAL Battlestar Galactica, Cain was also a "Commander" and not an Admiral...and was actually subordinate to Adama, but I guess it made for "good TV" to switch their roles to have her superior to Adama.

That is what I really liked the most. Yeah the battle was there, but they focused on the chess match going on between Cain and Adama, with each side moving their pieces into position.

I was a bit disappointed with the cost of the Season 2.0 DVD set, as it's not even a full season -- yet it still cost $40. Luckily, I bought it at the same time as Serenity (), so I got $10 off.
