Teen Turns Himself In in Russian Roulette Shooting
    Jan 27th - 6:12am

WASHINGTON (AP) - D.C. police have arrested a teenager in the shooting death last week of a 13-year-old.

Police say the 15-year-old suspect killed Isaiah Patterson on Jan. 18 during a game of Russian roulette in the 5100 block of Just Street, NE.

Investigators say the two teens were part of a group of students who skipped school and were playing with a gun. They took turns pointing it at each other and pulling the trigger. Police say it fired when the 15-year-old was pointing the weapon at Isaiah. He was shot in the head and died at the scene.

Police first believed that Isaiah had shot himself, but decided someone else had pulled the trigger after looking at forensic evidence and the autopsy.

The 15-year-old turned himself in Wednesday night and has been charged as a juvenile with second-degree murder.

    LOL. That is great.

Unfortunatley, I know somone who decided to play russian roulette and lost. When I went to elementary school they had certain lines that were used to designate where the kids went. On one side of the district you went to school X, on the other side school Y. Strangely enough, the lines changed when you went from elementary school to middle school and again when you went to high school. This meant that people you were friends with in elementary school could suddenly be at another school in middle school.

One of those people effected by the change was a friend of mine who after the switch we drifted apart. He went from being a good kid to being rebellious, smoking, drinking, etc. I think it was in either 7th or 8th grade that we all found out that he had gone to a local park with one of his friends and they were playing Russian Roulette on the playground. Gun fired and hit him. For a while they didnt think he was going to survive as part of his head was gone, but somehow he pulled through. I learned of this from the news/ my parents telling me.

I dont recall how, but a while after the entire thing happened, I learned that he had limited cognitive ability left. He couldnt talk, just mumble. Didnt recognize people and was virtually helpless.

Looking back on that now, I really have to question the validity of those claims as most people put the gun to the side of their head, not the front. (Unless the other guy was the one who pulled the trigger) If it was to the side, to effect his speech that badly it would have had to go through brocas region of the brain. Then again, an injury so severe to other parts of the brain may have been enough to produce aphasia on its own. Who knows.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine...Where have you been? It's alright we know where you've been....

I think he was referring to a story a while back about... I think it was two boys who were playing russian roulette and they used a semi-automatic not knowing that it automatically puts the bullet first in que... or somethink like that. Kinda sad really. I don't know much about guns... prefer more traditional weapons myself so I could easily see myself doing something like this.
As for the brain trauma... yeah he could've hit broca's area but usuall that makes it hard for them to get the words out (halting speech type stuff having trouble getting each individual word out, not mumbling stuff. That and they are generally ok with intellect). Probably just global damage from all the stuff that happened to his brain... damage from trauma, swelling, lack of oxygen, etc... Really sad.
