    Room temperature Fusion?

    http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/ny_te...ion_10017.html

so does that mean, that we now are capable of cold fusion? Wasn't this a myth or something recently? Not really a possibility and now they've done it?

anybody know what the difference is b/w cold and room temp fusion? I'm confused shouldn't we be shouting this from the mountaintops or something?

pretty cool if you ask me.
    LK was treated unfairly

    thanks X

As I understand it, they produced a few neurtons for a few seconds but not anything that can be converted into energy, which is the often mentioned "holy grail" of fusion research. That, if possible, is still a long ways away. This is one of the first times they have done this at temperatures close to room temperature- previous experiments involved super cooling the device to close to absolute zero.
I add new pictures to my photo gallery pretty regularly. You can see them here if you are interested: http://www.pbase.com/jeffryz

I would be cool if instead of hearing about them working on hydrogen cell powered laptop/cellphone/etc. batteries, we'd hear them working of "fusion cell" power.

You'd have to have a steam stack on your laptop..... actually, that might be pretty cool. Maybe a bit hotter than a 12" powerbook.
