Changing OS on a new Dell

I have a new Dell e510. I want to install my own copy of XP Pro on it, I try to and have formated the hard drive and it starts to copy the files over from the XP cd. Then after the first restart, it does not boot from the HD as it should (i think it should be booting for HD) and continue to setting up and installing windows? What am I doing wrong? thanks!

Did you delete the backup partition?

Eject the cd after the first restart and see what happens.

Any errors during the XP build, such as files failing to copy over? If so, do you remember which one(s)?
