I was definitely thinking of the burgers... Between being away from SoCal and eating WAY healthy lately, a double double sounds amazing!

where's pacific beach? Is that by hotel coronado?
The Hotel Del Coronado (where Thomas Edison helped set up the first lights) is located on Coronado Island which is across San Diego Bay from Downtown San Diego. Half the island is military (North Island Air Station- home to three aircraft carriers and support) and half is residences (expensive ones). As you go north from there, you pass Little Italy (Point Loma was on your left- site of the Point Loma Lighthouse and the Rosencrans Military Cemetary) and an area known as Midway or Sports Arena. About five miles from downtown, you hit Old Town- set up like it was 100 years ago. A tourist place but you can find great Mexican food there. Next up the coast is Mission Bay and Mission Beach. It sort of blends into Pacific Beach which begins on the north side of Mission Bay. Another five miles or so will take you up to La Jolla- site of the La Jolla cove picture and about a mile south of that is the Kiddies Pool where the seals hang out. If you continue north, you pass the Scripps Institute of Oceanography on the way up the hill to the University of California San Diego. Just after that is the Torrey Pines Golf Course where the Buick Invitational pictures came from. In 2008 they will host the US Open. It sits up on some cliffs and down below is Black's Beach- clothing optional. But not that many hot chicks there- mostly old people and gay men. Hang gliders and para sails float overhead. Keep going to Del Mar- home of the Del Mar Race Track ("Where the surf meets the turf..") and the Del Mar Fair (now the San Diego County Fair).
If you went south from downtown you would hit Chula Vista and Imperial Beach. There- a quick view of Coastal San Diego!
