Hey, don't feel bad, 'wird. I rarely venture into the Finance forum, either.Originally Posted by passwird

Even though a repost, I found it (and my house) quite valuable....
it lists the tax-accessed value, right? what's the difference between that and the market value?

Tax values are generally accessed on an annual basis and might not actually reflect what houses of similar qualities are currently selling for in your local area.Originally Posted by kimchicowboy
For many folks, tax values are based on the original sale price of the property (with a percentage growth rate added for appreciation), plus an assessed value for any additions you may have made to the property. This may or may not be in line of what other houses are really selling for in your area.
In some cases the tax value might be too high (if the neighborhood is in decline) or too low (if the neighborhood is growing by leaps and bounds).

and i was totally already planning on doing that to my house.
anyhoo, it's showing mine at about $147,000, which is pretty close... we'll probly be able to sell it for a bit more. not bad, having bought it for $106,000 four years ago, owing to the bad smell and broken glass in lieu of grass...
pretty nifty site. showing values of all the neighbors' houses too. soooo voyeuristic![]()

Mine came up at $581,693 I bought it for $192,000 in 2000!
Parent's house is off by about 125,000, but it's a pretty nifty site. Cool stuff!
BTW- Passwird eats kittens, just thought everyone should know.
hmmm I'm not sure if I can believe this quote. Says my house is 1.7 million. seems a bit high

They're all just estimates. My house was only off by 50k, but my parent's house was off by 500-600k.Originally Posted by brainsmile

edit: actually, it's just about the same price as the selling price.

blah.
My price for the condo is right. I bought for 190K and according to zillow it's zestimate is about 267K. A 37% increase and the list price I see on places like ziprealty.com is in that range +/- 5K.
