Thumbs up Comic Con 2006 July 19-23

comic-con picture removed since an image came up saying hotlinking graphics from their domains is prohibited. -GAM

The Comicon is coming the Comic con is comming

    And I cannot wait.

Last year I helped some Gotapexers score big at Ebay by telling them were to get the rare stuff, but I did fail to post some of that stuff on last years thread.

Not again. This year I will tell all and if some of you also know secrets please post them here.

As for tix you still have time for the 15.00 discount

Also I will post were to score free tix when they become available.

I may have an extra preview night tix or two coming up. So if I do I will post.

Take care all and see ya in the funny pages.

Comic Con info can be found here

Last year I won tix from a local radio station. I expect some will have some giveaways like that again.

I am interested in hearing what is good to look for at the convention that is wanted on ebay.

Usually you can get at least a couple of tickets and some websites give all week passes out. I anticipate this happening this year and they also gave out free movie previews last year. I got to see Red Eye this way. I will also try to post if I see the tickets up on any radio station websites.

Last year I did it online. Don't know what happened. Last years log-in code was members and vips as the pasword.

In case you have at least 3 hours free. You can volunteer and the entrance is free for the rest of that day.

I was able to register online, but I missed the deadline for the $50.00 all event pass. But at least I have our passes and will be able to go to preview night. Last year was the first time we had gone, and found 2 days wasn't enough time to see and do everything.

    Volunteering

Last year, my kids and I got in for free just by volunteering to work a couple of hours. Great way to see behind the scenes and interact with a LOT of people for free!

Eh.. No big deal on my end.. It's pretty cheap with Military Pricing.. even all 5 days (to include Wednesday "Preview")

Someone a while back tried to point out to me that it is active duty only (I am active) But that is untrue. Since the new ID's for military no longer say "Active" or "Reserve" technically everyone is "Active" because there is no longer a distinction between the two.

Couch Potato is a little behind on giving out tickets this year. I hope they start something soon. Who else gives tickets out?

105.3 gave some out, and 101.5's giving some out on Monday. I'm betting Fox and Jack will join in next week as well. Wait, maybe Jack already did, a few weeks ago?

I SiGned up as a volunteer this year, so i get free admittance to the convention center throughout the convention dates, and all access passes, that way I can move freely without having to deal with the crowds. Besides the advantage of signing up long before, i get free access to preview night

I have zero money for tickets and even if I get free tickets there's the cost of food, gas, parking and etc...so I'm going to pretend like this year's Comicon has been cancled.

La, la, la, I can't hear you. La, la, la. There is no Comicon this year, la, la, la.

How old do you have to be in order to volunteer for comic con exactly?

    16. Here's the volunteer page, and the age issue is covered in the FAQ's. http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_vol.shtml

Yeah. .but then you have to work 3 hours per day.. To get a pass for everyday.. Otherwise it's just for the day you work.. which sucks. I'd rather pay my 30$ and have a pass for all days AND access to preview night.. Otherwise that would be like working for
    $2.50 an hour. No thanks.

Is it too late to volunteer still?

Did anyone get free passes from one of these radio stations? I got a few and tried to register with them online, but I keep getting an error message: that's the number d/n match or has already been redeemed"!! I will have to register in person and hope it is accepted there!!
