Dang, sorry to hear that. Do they know why your blood pressure was so high (do you have a history of high blood pressure)? Hope you feel better.

i wonder if the nosebleed was thanks to our stupid cold weather and overly dry heated houses, and your blood pressure raised because of you being nervous about it all. . .

..When the new furnace was put in-we picked out one with a humidifier on it-I check the levels on it every three days-and it's fine, so the house isn't overly dry..not sure what caused the nosebleeds, but they didn't cause the chest pain that's for sure..oh well..I'm feeling tired today, but better-the headache is gone, so is the chest pain for now, and I only have a sore nose..

Hope things turn out well for you.

I went though a stress test last year, it's not too bad, although mine was on the treadmill rather then chemical. Don't let them over do the drugs that speed up your heart, I have had at least one relative that had issues with it and the drug to slow things back down didn't work too well for him. In my case the test showed low blood flow to the bottom of my heart, so the cardio doc ordered up a heart cath. They found nothing with the cath and told me that the stress test was a false positive.

I am not even sure why most cardio docs still do the stress tests. Including myself, I have had known 4 people that have all had false readings from the stress test.

Hopefully, they just find out that there isn't anything serious with the high blood pressure thing and it just becomes one of those weird things that never shows up again. Have you been taking any medication or doing anything that could cause your blood pressure to skyrocket? I kinda like to lump things into one cause (the whole acom's razor thing) and the first thing that popped into my mind is that the high blood pressure caused the chest pain, headache, and nosebleed. Of course... if you don't have a history of high blood pressure it begs the question why did your blood pressure go up. Like I said, hope there isn't anything serious.

Because it's the best screening test that we currently have. Yeah, it isn't as good as a cath. but then it's a LOT safer and cheaper than a cath. to do... and if it gives a false positive then the worst case scenario is that you get a cath. Well at least you werent getting "internally checked" by the doc where he has one hand on your one shoulder and then he puts the other hand on your other shoulder while the exam is still going on. Yep, that would be truly uncomfortable.

Seriously though, I hope you feel better and they are able to find out what caused this "hiccup" in your system. Make sure they know all the drugs you are taking and whether you are taking them as presrcibed or altering the course yourself.

I know my step-brother was hospitalized and nearly died (coded several times) due to a drug induced (prescription that he was prescribed) chemical imbalance that sent his heart into a downward spiral. He was in the ICU for about a week as a result of the issue and it took them to find out what was the cause, in fact they found a stop-gap measure before they figured out the root of the problem.

Wierd. Bloodwork was ok, ekg's were ok, sinus xrays ok, chest xrays ok, ultrasounds of gallbladder, liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys ok, blood pressure which was high that day is now ok, he's baffled..and trying to get me in with the cardiologist-for now he put me on Reglan for the gastroparesis that I have..he "thinks" that the stomach may be the problem (but that does not explain the nasal bleeding, high blood pressure, blinding headache)..so I guess it's a wait and see issue..

My first job was working in the research department of an osteopathic medical school here in Chicago (with an osteopathic clinic/hospital down the block). I remember one time that one lady was very flustered (probably had done something wrong). A doctor she was passing by looked at her and seriously told her to go get her blood pressure checked. She did, and it was through the roof. It was so high that the (osteopathic) doctor that was checking her was afraid to use what he would normally do for blood pressure. He asked her if she was having any other problems, and she mentioned her stomach being upset from something she had eaten the night before. He then used an osteopathic treatment for her stomach, and her blood pressure dropped faster than if they had pumped some drugs into her.

This was one of the old, experienced osteopaths. People would fly in from around the country to get treated by him because they would never get colds, etc. (One time he was doing a spinal exam on a new patient in a double-blind study, and asked the guy "You're diabetic, aren't you?" - the guy was amazed, as he had just found out that he was the week before.) The newer crop of DOs mostly just want to be like MDs and use drugs.

no change in diet, no change in meds, no change in stress levels...the only thing stressful was that I had a cousin of mine got shot to death in Scranton about a month ago..which reminds me..does anyone here live in or around Scranton that watches the scranton news?

I trust my doctor with the utmost confidence. He's the best in the area. People are actually sent to HIM for consults. That's one thing I never skimped on was my medical man

If I keep having problems I will def. seek a second and third opinion, but for now, I'll do what he suggests and see what happens..

completely. The stress echos are pretty damn good now, and like MF said, worst case = false positive = cath. Nosebleed, chest pain, HA = acute hypertension. Figuring out the cause may be tough. The stress echo will likely be negative, though. Blood tests will likely reveal much more.
